  EC Malta 2012, Freestyle for Juniors (age of 16 to 20 Years)

Available 23th June – 02th September 2012 - EC Malta Freestyle Programme has been designed for students between the age of 16 to 20.

 

  

 

If students want to learn English this summer, enjoy a holiday, take part in activities, but want to have the freedom to explore this Mediterranean island, EC’s Freestyle programme is ideal. Students can relax and make friends as they experience the wonderful sights of the amazing destination.

This is a sample programme only and changes may occur.

 

Accommodation: Staying in a hotel with other EC students is a great way for students to practice their English and experience an independent lifestyle. Students will stay at a hotel situated maximum 20 minutes walk to school or 10 minutes by bus.

Accommodation includes:

·         Board status: Half Board or Full Board (full board supplement applies)

·         Type of rooms: Triple or Twin (twin room supplement applies)

·         Rooms and communal areas are cleaned daily.

·         Bed linen and towels are provided (students should bring their own beach towels)

·         Linen is changed a minimum of once a week and towels are changed daily

·         For added security and assistance, live-in supervisors will stay at the hotel

·         Student rooms include: mini-fridge, lamp, storage space, TV and air-conditioning

·         All rooms include ensuite shower.

 

Learning

 

Junior Centre: Students will have lessons in an EC centre which is in the heart of St. Julian’s, The centre provides a secure location that’s conducive to English learning and that enables students to socialize freely.

Students will learn in a fully air-conditioned, bright and modern centre.

EC Academic Co-coordinator is present at the centre for any academic needs.

Course: Students attending the Freestyle programme will attend a General English course. On the first day, all students sit a placement test. The placement test assesses students in listening, reading, writing and use of English allowing academic staff to place students in the relevant group for their ability.

 

General English: This course is ideal if students want to improve their English whatever their level. The course will help improve English language skills by focusing on the key areas: reading, writing, speaking and listening. A strong focus is placed on speech and using the language confidently and fluently.

 

Lessons are stimulating and challenging skills are improved through the discussions held in class on different topics which are interesting and relevant to the students’ needs.

 

·         Students study in classes of a maximum of 15 students

·         Students attend 20 lessons per week (15 hours). Lessons alternate on a daily basis between mornings and afternoons.

·         Every day lessons are delivered by more than one teacher. This way students benefit from listening to different English accents.

·         Our dedicated and professional teaching staff provide feedback and support and help students build confidence to speak English.

·         International classes.

·         Course book and educational materials are provided

·         Students should bring their own notepaper and pens

·         Students have internet access available at the Centre or at EC’s Internet Café

 

After School

 

Meals: Students meals are served in the main restaurant at the hotel. Meals typically consist of:

·         Continental breakfast: a pot of tea/coffee, orange juice, fresh bread, butter & jam, ham and cheese.

·         Dinner: three-course buffet style meal with a choice of starters, main courses and deserts. One large bottle of mineral water will be served per 4 students. Students can buy additional drinks from the restaurant.

EC must be informed at the time of booking of any special dietary requirements.

 

Activities: A varied activity programme is included in the Freestyle package. A private EC bus service takes students to and from all activities.

 

Extra Options

 

Diving: Students can opt to follow a scuba diving course leading to an internationally recognised PADI qualification. Our dive centre offers the PADI Open Waters for beginners and the PADI Advanced course for more experienced divers. The course replaces some afternoon activities and is completed in 5 half day sessions.

 

Sicily: Malta’s location, just 94 kms south of Sicily, makes the Italian island very accessible. Students can easily book a guided day trip to the island which also includes visiting Mount Etna departing early Sunday morning and returns on Sunday night.

 

Sailing: Students can choose to learn or to perfect their sailing techniques, leading to an internationally recognised RYA qualification. Students will not be able to attend all the programme’s scheduled activities since 4 half day sessions will be spent sailing with our experienced instructors.
