Exam Preparation Courses

One may choose to get the most out of studying a language by choosing to take an international exam. Having a prestigious qualification may prove to be beneficial in the working world and when entering tertiary education. Exam students are given a lot of support and advice from our DELTA Director of Studies who monitors them throughout their stay.

Choose between a 10-week Intensive Exam Course, a Crash Course or a Foundation Course with Exam Preparation.

10 - Week Intensive Exam Course/ 30 lessons a week: Our ten-week intensive course is a combination of General and Academic English. It ensures an improvement in language and skills coupled with expert advice on how to use effective exam strategies. This high quality course aims at academic success through guidance, practice and discipline. Our students are monitored throughout; they are given progress reports, frequent mock tests and tutorials.

Crash Course: Students can choose to take an intensive crash course to prepare themselves for their exam. Crash courses are held over two, four or six weeks depending on the students' time constraints.

Foundation Course with Exam Preparation

Students may opt to take four General English lessons in the morning from 9.00 until 12.30 followed by two individual exam preparation tutorials. The General English lessons give students a good foundation to English as they focus on receptive and productive skills, vocabulary and grammar. The individual lessons are tailor-made to the students’ specific exams and focus on exam strategies and techniques.

Exam Preparation Courses prepare our students for the following:

  • LCCI: As well as improving employability, LCCI International Qualifications give students the opportunity to progress into higher education as the qualifications are recognised by many professional bodies and universities.
  • LCCI Qualifications cover a comprehensive range of English language qualifications, which include General English, proficiency tests and Business English aligned to the Common European Framework (CEF). Courtesy of LCCI

The above exams are divided into five parts: Use of English (which tests the students’ grammar knowledge), Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing.

IELTS- International English Language Testing System: IELTS General – all levels / IELTS Academic – all levels

The IELTS General prepares students for the world of work whereas the IELTS Academic teaches students the necessary skills and sub skills needed for university. The IELTS exam is skills based and it does not have a grammar paper. It does however test grammar through the productive skills; speaking and writing. It also contains a reading and a listening paper. This exam is unique as it is not divided into different levels; all students take the same exam whether Pre Intermediate or Advanced.
